Same day urgent care

"I need to be seen today"

Phone us – our triage nurse will assess the urgency of your need

We keep a small number of appointments aside for patients who become unwell on the day. For urgent care, our nurse will speak with you and find out more about how urgent your needs are. This process is called “triage”. Please trust us to act in your best interest, while also being considerate of others who may also be in high need. We can provide urgent appointments during our business hours of 8.30am to 5.30pm in both Nelson and Stoke. Please remember that booking ahead can help prevent urgent situations such as running out of medication.

We can help with your urgent care need

We have years of training and experience in dealing with urgent care needs. If you or your family need help – come and see us. We can help with everything from stitches and staples to counselling and care when you need someone to listen.

Emergency and after-hours care

For all emergencies, dial 111. For urgent after-hours appointments – call Medical and Injury Centre (MIC) on 03 546 8881 or go directly to MIC, next to the Emergency Department at Nelson Hospital, 98 Waimea Road. MIC are open from 8.00am to 10.00pm seven days a week. Please note that when you visit another GP (including MICN) for urgent care, you will be charged a higher fee as you are not an enrolled patient at that practice. Call us first during business hours.

Emergencies at the practice

Our GP and nurse team are fully trained in emergency medicine. We all hold up to date resuscitation certificates. At our facilities we have AED and emergency equipment with Oxygen. If you require an Ambulance called to the clinic for your hospital admission, your privacy will be respected.
