See the same Doctor each visit

We can guarantee you continued care. This means that you can see the same doctor each visit, if you choose. Over time you will build a trusting relationship, centered around your well-being and health.

Our doctors work as a team with the nurses. This means that if your doctor of choice is away that day, you can be assured of continued care from their partner. You can also make appointments with our experienced Nurses.

As all our staff work part time the best way to ensure you see your preferred doctor is to book online and in advance.

How to make an Appointment

Urgent same day appointments – If you acutely unwell, please ring Toi Toi Medical and ask to speak to our nurse. We keep a small number of same day appointments aside for patients who become unwell on the day. 


Non-urgent and routine appointments – Book online or call 03 548 3109. Let us know if you require a nurse’s appointment or a non-standard appointment such as a medical, or a double appointment.

For all emergencies please dial 111. Urgent after hours appointments – call Medical and Injury Centre (MIC) on 03 546 8881 or go directly to MIC, next to the Emergency Department at Nelson Hospital, 98 Waimea Road.

Information about appointments

Your appointment will last for 15 minutes. Your doctor can usually deal with one or two problems in the 15 minutes. Please book a double appointment (30 minutes) if you need more time, for more complicated or multiple health concerns. You can book a double appointment by phone. The double appointment will cost more but could save a return visit.

 

Please book 2-3 days ahead for your appointment if possible. Please ask if you would like a chaperone (a second staff member present) for your appointment. You may bring a support person to your appointment.

Please try to arrive 5 minutes early to your appointment and remember to check in with the receptionist and collect your arrival slip, this then alerts the doctor that you have arrived. 

You will receive an arrival slip each time you visit Toi Toi Medical for a nurse or Dr visit please give this to them when you are called in. This helps us to ensure your details are correct and also helps reception to know what to charge at the end of the consult.

If you have a sick child please do phone and speak to the nurse, even if we have no appointments available we will always see sick children. 

Please remember, our doctors and nurses do their best to run on time but sometimes emergencies do happen and this may delay your appointment. Please try to be patient with us.
